About
We practice responsible and innovative ways to reduce animal overpopulation in shelters, rescue and rehabilitate critically injured and neglected animals, and connect the community to services that enable animals to remain in their homes. Together we are advocates, rescuers, and educators. Together we make a difference. Why do we do what we do? Because they Matter.
To help create a world where animals are cherished, respected, and free from unnecessary suffering. We strive to reduce euthanasia rates and support an overburdened shelter system through education, community outreach, and compassionate care. We hope to destigmatize discriminated breeds in our community and build a society of animal advocacy and compassion.

About
Please note that we do not have a physical shelter location. All of our animals are graciously fostered by our volunteers.
It all began in 2004 when founder Holly DeRito showed up at NYCACC looking for a buddy for her dog. A staff member took her into the back where all the dogs that were going to be euthanized the next day were. The dogs the public didn’t see. That night, she went home with seven dogs. From there, Holly began building her own rescue and network through housing these dogs with friends and family. After a few years, ACC had seen a huge improvement, so Holly expanded to transports with the help of some rescue friends.
Waggytail Rescue now has partners in Texas, LA, Alabama, and even Tijuana. Our team of volunteers, fosters, adopters and partners continue to grow and we would love for you to be a part of the journey!

About
Homeward Bound is a not for profit volunteer organization. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and share one common passion – we love dogs, all kinds of dogs. We were formed because we saw many young, happy, healthy puppies and young dogs being euthanized in shelters because there was no foster space or other rescue groups with room to take them until their forever home could be found. Our focus is finding those family dogs who just need a little more time and exposure, and helping them find their way home.
We do not have a facility which houses our dogs during the week. Our volunteers live all over the Capital District of New York State. All of the dogs in our program reside in a foster home with a Homeward Bound volunteer. We take our dogs into our homes and care for them as if they were our own until they go to their forever homes. This serves several purposes: Many of our dogs have been in shelters and time spent in a loving home will help them begin to feel safe, comfortable and allow their true personalities to emerge. Also, the time we spend with them helps us to learn more about them, which allows us to be able to provide applicants with an accurate assessment and the dogs individual strengths and needs.

About
Our mission is to “Rescue One By One Until There Are None.” At Paws Crossed, we believe that our mission is best fulfilled through rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming, advocacy, collaboration and education.
We believe in always working to create a better world for pets and for people as a unified community!
OUR CORE VALUES:
Commitment to our Community: We feel a strong responsibility to our community for always supporting our mission. We develop and cultivate deep relationships that make a positive difference. We truly are a family.
Education: We take every opportunity to educate our community about animal welfare and animal care. Education not only forges the future for animal rescue, but it creates a better life for pets and people everywhere.
Innovation not Imitation: Just because something has always been done a certain way, doesn’t mean that is the best and most effective way. We encourage creativity and imagination.
Integrity / Ethics: We believe in always doing the right thing in a fair and honest way.
“Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Be the Change: For something to change, something has to change. We never shy away from taking an action that will further our mission.
