About

In our opinion, senior dogs are the best dogs. Yes, they can be a bit more expensive with all the medication, vet visits, etc. and yes, it’s hard to swallow that you are bringing a dog home knowing the inevitable will happen sooner than later, but these aren’t things we think about. We think about the time they have left. How can we show them love? Prove we won’t abandon them? Let them know they can trust us and never have to experience a new home again? There is nothing more heart breaking for us than going to a shelter and seeing a senior dog in a kennel that doesn’t know what love is, or even worse, knows what love was and then all of the sudden their family was gone.
Our mission is simple. We want to save as many senior dogs as we can from passing in shelters and provide those seniors with the best life we can. All of us at Promise 4 Paws have a love for dogs of all ages, but found our greatest passion to be senior dogs. Our community is very lucky to have several local dog rescues and multiple humane societies, however, we feel there has always been a shortcoming when it comes to older dogs. Our goal has always been, and continues to be, to bridge that gap.

About

Every dog deserves a second chance.
We are a 501(c)3 and as such will continue to work as a nonprofit with no financial benefit to us on a personal level.
We are a no kill rescue ensuring that no dog will be euthanized unless they are aggressive beyond training or their health is such that they are suffering or untreatable.
We will work on the premise that the rescue’s first responsibility is to the dogs and then to the volunteers and the public.
Dogs are not regarded as adoptable or unadoptable and will be accepted on individual need and our ability to meet that need.
We will work with an open environment, disclosing our records of our intakes and outcomes as well as our financial situation. We will exercise full transparency.
We promote dog owners to surrender their dog to a rescue when they are no longer able to care for that dog for whatever reason. We do this free of charge and without shaming.
We will not exploit a dog’s history for gain.
We will work as a rescue and will not purchase dogs be it from individuals or sales such as auctions.
We will keep our focus on the dogs rather than the situations they came from or the individuals in their past.

About

Dogs Forever is a great organization, run entirely by volunteers. We are passionate about our dogs and work tirelessly to take great care of them, and also to make sure their next home is their forever home. When we take a dog in, we take care of them as long as is necessary to find them the right match in terms of family and environment.
Dogs Forever is dedicated to rescuing homeless, abused, and neglected dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages with a special emphasis on those deemed “hard-to-place”. As an Adoption Guarantee shelter, all dogs will stay in our care until we have found their forever homes.

About

Animal Lifeline of Iowa (ALI) is Central Iowa’s only special needs, no-kill animal shelter, celebrating nearly 35 years of serving the Des Moines area and all of Iowa. We rescue cats and dogs that are injured, handicapped, have a serious medical condition, abused, pregnant and nursing moms, or orphans that require bottle feeding. We rehabilitate the animals, who run a higher risk of euthanasia in a traditional shelter setting, and then adopt them into loving forever homes. Animals are not euthanized because they have been at the shelter for a certain length of time.
Animal Lifeline is a no-kill animal shelter seeking to reduce the number of special needs dogs and cats that are euthanized by providing care, temporary shelter, and by promoting positive long-term pet guardianship.

About

King’s Harvest pet rescue is a no-kill, non-profit, charitable 501c3 organization serving the Quad Cities and surrounding communities. Our goal is to serve our community by taking in homeless and surrendered pets and finding them loving, forever homes through our comprehensive adoption process. We strive to address the issue of overpopulation by providing a spay and neuter program for low income families. We also offer assistance with our pet food pantry and temporary pet placement for the homeless that reside in our shelter. The public, our staff members and our volunteers are all viewed as partners in improving animal welfare in our community.
Our pet assistance programs help those in need with free pet food, low cost spaying/neutering, education, re-homing surrendered pets of the homeless and at times providing temporary homing so that the owner can be reunited with their pets. To receive pet assistance under King’s Harvest’s programs the owner must:
Be below the poverty level as established by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services
Provide some form of identification(state, federal or county) ID card
Show proof of ownership of the pet (vet bill, rabies certificate, license or proof you have cared for the pet more than seven consecutive days)
Provide a rental/lease agreement or property taxes with your name to indicate you have a home for your pet(s).
Proof of income for every household member.

About

Waverly Pet Rescue has been in continuous operation since August, 2006.
The organization was conceived and is operated by a fifth generation Waverly native with a passion to help homeless animals.
Waverly Pet Rescue is an all volunteer, no-kill rescue based in Waverly, Iowa. Our adoptable animals live in loving foster homes.
Waverly Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Waverly Pet Rescue primarily serves small towns in northeast Iowa without animal shelters or other means to care for homeless animals.
Waverly Pet Rescue animals live in loving volunteer foster homes until adopted… no matter how long that takes.
Waverly Pet Rescue finds homes or suitable no-kill placements for approximately 300 homeless cats and dogs each year.
During the past eleven years, Waverly Pet Rescue has grown into a network of foster homes, caring veterinarians and other volunteers, each bringing their own skill set and love of animals to the organization.
Waverly Pet Rescue operates solely from donations and adoption fees.
We do not receive any grants or funding from the communities we serve.
Our administrative expenses are minimal, but the veterinary bills for our animals are significant. Each animal is fully vetted before entering a foster home and we always give our animals the care they need…sometimes at great expense. Often, the adoption fee for an animal does not begin to cover the actual cost to Waverly Pet Rescue for that animal’s expenses.
Our goal is the find our adoptable animals top quality and only the best forever homes. We have a very extensive and thorough adoption process.
