About

Alaska Dog & Puppy Rescue was originally formed as a Rescue organization to help meet the needs of the Mat-Su Valley and its pet over population problems. The dogs and puppies taken in were literally saved from certain death. As an all-volunteer organization it hasn’t been easy but thanks to hundreds of dedicated and compassionate volunteers ADPR has continued to grow and succeed.
We continue to rescue from numerous shelters around the state, as well as from villages spread all over Alaska! We also take in unexpected litters from the public. Since our beginning in 2003, ADPR has rescued and placed an average of over 500 dogs and puppies a year. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and are kept in foster care until the right forever home is found for them.
Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue is a rescue organization that rescues dogs from the community, Animal Control/Shelters and many bush communities throughout Alaska. We also take in unexpected/unplanned litters from the public and spay the mom so that no more “accidents” happen. All of the dogs and puppies rescued are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and evaluated before being placed up for adoption. All of our animals are cared for in foster care until they are ready for adoptionur organization is supported by volunteers! We need volunteers to with adoption clinics, transporting, answer phones, we also need volunteers to run errands during the week.

About

Alaskan Animal Rescue Friends (AARF) is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation based in Anchorage dedicated to helping the dogs of Alaska. Our all-volunteer crew rescues, rehabilitates, and adopts dogs into loving furever homes throughout Alaska.
Our office is located at 521 W 41st Ave, Unit G/H and is only open on adoption clinic days (typically Sundays). The dogs do not stay at this facility during the week—we rely on foster homes and boarding kennels to house the dogs and puppies until they’ve found a home.
Most dogs and puppies come to AARF from bush communities through other rescue organizations and partners, but we also take in dogs from local animal control facilities, owner releases, neglect, medical cases, and occasionally from high kill shelters in the lower 48.

About

Loving Companions Animal Rescue, Incorporated is a non-profit shelter and sanctuary created to save and care for unwanted, abandoned animals in the State of Alaska. All our staff are volunteers who receive no pay, work many hours to help the community and promote a better life for animals and offer an alternative to killing pets.
We have a desire to save from destruction those older pets that have become hard to place because of their age or disabilities. We will provide a warm, comfortable home and try to place them with a new family, or insure they are able to live out their natural life.
We offer a variety of special service programs for low income pet owners to help them keep their pets during difficult times. These programs are; free boarding of pets to clients in the Center for Non-Violent Living, the Rescue Mission, homeless members during severe weather, and patients in medical facilities requiring assistance with their pets, and referrals from other social service agencies. We offer a pet food bank for families in need, free transportation of pets from locations throughout the state to ensure their survival, special veterinary assistance for emergencies or to save the life of a pet. Free adoptions for senior citizens of senior pets when funding available and help in other ways to ensure that our senior citizens are able to have a companion. Our special services change and expand as the need arises and we make every effort to accommodate.
Our goal is to work with volunteers, humane organizations, and other interested parties to build a group that support a no-kill community in Alaska and to provide a network of volunteers and coordination to develop solutions and strategies for the state.
We desire to create a better world for pets, support low cost spay and neuter, set up a system of foster homes, maintain a sanctuary, and provide a flexible adoption program.

About

Juneau Animal Rescue is a private, non-profit shelter, located in Juneau, Alaska. Our shelter was founded in 1963 by members of our community who collaborated to help disadvantaged and homeless animals. We are proud to have served domestic animals in Juneau and its outlying communities for over 55 years. Although we are also contracted to perform Animal Control and Protection Services by the City and Borough of Juneau, we are not a government entity. We continue to rely heavily on the generous contributions from the public in order to sustain our honored tradition of serving animals in need in our community. It is through these contributions that Juneau Animal Rescue has been able to endure and care for animals in need successfully throughout its many years.

Our animal shelter began as a small shed under the bridge over Gastineau Channel. While we will always be proud of those humble beginnings, our new name and logo more accurately convey the community spirit of the organization that has served Juneau’s animal population since 1963. In January 2019 we changed our name to Juneau Animal Rescue, hoping to strengthen awareness of our organization and expand our public outreach. We are continually grateful for the generous support of the community and look forward to the next 50 plus years of service as Juneau Animal Rescue.

About

Alaska Mindful Paws (AMP) is a non-profit organization currently managing the Homer Animal Shelter through a contract with the City of Homer. In addition to managing the shelter, AMP staff is responsible for animal control services within the city limits and issuing dog licenses
to city residents. As a non-profit, AMP is eligible to receive tax-deductible donations as well as in-kind donations.
Our Mission is to provide a safe transition for homeless animals while educating the community in humane and responsible pet ownership. The staff consists of an Executive Director/Shelter Manger, an Assistant Shelter Manager and a Kennel Assistant. The organization also has five-member Board of Directors.
While AMP is a new organization, we are striving to build a reputation of integrity and excellent service. We value honesty and dedication to providing the best care possible to both the animals in the shelter and the public we deal with. As a volunteer, what you do and say at the shelter or off-site reflects on our reputation. We ask that you treat any shelter visitor with courtesy and respect. We plan to work towards educating the community in humane and responsible pet ownership in a variety of ways. Informational handouts are being created that will be available to visitors as well as included in complimentary “adoption packets” that will accompany the adoption of each animal. We make great efforts to share useful information about companion animals through our social media sites and future website. AMP also has plans in the future to coordinate with other community groups to promote humane and responsible pet ownership through various fundraising events and cooperative efforts.
Collaboration with others in the community is important to us. We are fortunate to have a cooperative agreement the Homer Veterinary Clinic to ensure appropriate veterinary treatment of all animals. We also receive generous support from the local non-profit organization, Homer Animal Friends. Part of their organization’s mission is “to support the animal shelter” and as such, they have agreed to cover half the costs of spay/neuter surgeries for all shelter animals. Through these collaborative efforts with the Homer Veterinary Clinic and Homer Animal Friends, AMP hopes to achieve it’s goal of supporting responsible and humane pet ownership in this community. We are very grateful for the cooperation and support of these organizations and for the commitment of our dedicated volunteers.

About

Grand Paws Retirement Acres, Inc. is a senior & hard-to-home dog rescue program and a resource for the rural community of Alaska.
Grand Paws Retirement Acres was formed to give senior and hard-to-home dogs a warm place to live with love, food, and a pack to be a part of for the rest of their lives. Our mission in life is to give a small portion back to the dogs that give us so much every day. We are not the type of rescue that rehomes, we are the home!
At Grand Paws we rescue, rehabilitate, and provide a sanctuary for all the dogs in our care.
