Worcester Animal Rescue League, also known as WARL, was founded in 1912 by a group of Worcester women to help over-worked horses, stray cats and dogs. They were dedicated women who remained with WARL for the remainder of their lives.

LHK9 is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit all-breed dog rescue based in Massachusetts.
We are dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs from high-kill shelters in Central Arkansas and beyond. Though our rescue efforts are focused in the Central Arkansas area, we also serve as a resource for local dog surrenders, shelters, and special rescue efforts in other areas. We don’t discriminate on the basis of age, pre-existing medical conditions, or breed, because every dog deserves to know love.
As the literal “last hope” of the dogs we serve, our southern fosters pull dogs and puppies from partner shelters in Arkansas. While in foster, each dog receives love, care, and medical treatment, then receives a health clearance and transports to New England. After a mandatory 48-hour quarantine stay and an additional health clearance, each dog is picked up and fostered by a northern foster family who serves as a gateway to his/her adoptive home, affectionately known as a FURever home.

Shultz’s Guest House is a 501c3 dog rescue shelter, located on 200 private acres in Dedham, MA. It’s hard to imagine that such a place exists for homeless dogs, but it does! Surrounded by forests, ponds, with the Charles River running through it, dogs and visitors have a sense of stepping into paradise.
Our mission is to provide rescue for lost, homeless and abandoned dogs in the southern part of the country, where both veterinary care remains commonly unaffordable and animal protection laws remain dormant; to provide for the medical care, sheltering, and transport of such dogs to our Dedham, MA facility, where we can further manage their healthcare, provide socialization, introduce human trust, and promote spaying/neutering as a means to end the suffering of pet overpopulation and unwanted dogs; and to focus on adoption of healthy puppies and dogs into loving, forever homes.
Our shelter is also a private quarantine facility, fully licensed by the state of Massachusetts. We have accommodations for up to 80 dogs. SGH provides its dogs with comfortable ‘guest’ accommodations in our state-of-the-art shelter facility. Each dog has access to large outdoor play yards, fully and daily monitored by our staff of dedicated volunteers, who provide daily stimulation within a structured schedule – and a lot of attention and love! We believe that allowing a dog to thrive in this quiet, stress free and natural setting, helps the transition into a permanent home, a smooth and happy experience for all!

Save A Dog is a humane society whose primary focus is rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs. We began in 1999 as an all-breed, all-volunteer dog rescue group and ran out of our founder’s home for nine years. Finally we have a lovely facility and kennel which we are renting to own in Sudbury, Mass.
With millions of pets being euthanized annually, our goal is to save as many lives as we can even though we are a relatively small humane society. One way to maximize the number of lives we can save at one time is to bring in groups of a dozen or so dogs at one time. In rural West Virginia and Tennessee, the plight of dogs is heart-breaking. Puppies are thrown in dumpsters, drowned, or left in a box in the woods to die. We work with several humane societies in the south who are overwhelmed with dogs. They foster the dogs for us prior to sending them up for adoption. The dogs we receive from rural humane societies all would otherwise have been put to sleep. We also take in local dogs who are in need on a regular basis.

Save A Dog, Inc. is a Massachusetts-based humane society whose focus is abandoned dogs. We take in dogs of all breeds, sizes, and shapes who have become homeless for one reason or another. We work with animal shelters in MA as well as out of state. With millions of pets being abandoned each year, we try to maximize the number of dogs we can save at once, so we work with several rescue organizations in rural parts of the country where there is a pet overpopulation, hence pets in danger of euthanasia due to lack of resources. Save A Dog incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit in 1999 and our shelter is located in Sudbury, Massachusetts. We have used foster homes as well as the shelter to house and show our rescued dogs. We try to make the best match for applicant and dog.
To date we have rescued and adopted over 8,000 dogs. We offer education to our adopters on how to use natural supplements and a good quality food to care for the new dog or pup. We offer on-site puppy kindergarten classes for our adopters during the months when the weather is favorable. We send our rescued dogs home with an adoption contract that ensures the dog will never again end up in a shelter again. Our dogs are up to date on vaccinations, and we educate the adopters not to over-vaccinate as we know that this can lead to immune deficiency problems. We use a combination of homeopathy and conventional medical as our veterinary protocol. We advocate positive reinforcement training for dogs and obedience training is a requirement for all dog adopters.
We are privately funded via donations. We charge an adoption fee, but it is not enough to cover our operating expenses, so we hold several fund raisers per year to stay afloat and keep the dog rescue work going. “
