About
ARNO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit grassroots volunteer-based organization founded by Jane Garrison and two of her good friends in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Involved in hands-on Hurricane Katrina rescue in the greater New Orleans area, Jane was one of the first out-of-town persons on the scene at ‘rescue headquarters’ located at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, LA. Jane worked with hundreds of volunteers to rescue thousands of animals, and then Lamar-Dixon shut down in October 2005. Jane was the catalyst in putting together a talented and committed team of volunteers and staff from around the country that worked to urgently assist displaced pets and their families.
ARNO was formed in October 2005. Best Friends Animal Society also provided immeasurable support and shelter care to the ARNO animal relief effort between mid-October 2005 and through February 2006.
On February 1, 2006, locals gathered at the Bourbon Orleans Hotel to meet with Jane and transition the administration of ARNO to local hands. Charlotte Bass Lilly, a local New Orleanian and a known animal welfare figure, took the lead position from Jane and united a network of dedicated locals to continue the ardent work that Jane and legions of other tireless volunteers from across the nation had begun. Charlotte, too, was early on the scene at Lamar-Dixon, arriving directly behind the LA/SPCA animal control officers and working in water/land rescue under their direction. Today locals who are able, continue to assist in the daily operation of ARNO’s no-kill triage shelter, rescues, reunites, fosters and adoptions, in addition to hundreds of out-of-state volunteers. Out-of-state volunteers consistently provide volunteers on the ground, as well as assist with remote volunteer duties from the cities in which they reside. Non-profit volunteer organizations, as well as faith-based organization, also assist supplying volunteers to ARNO’s no-kill triage shelter. In addition high school and college students volunteer to fulfill community service hours required of them.

About
Founded in March, 2012, Ninna’s Road to Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are located in BENTON, LA. We do not publicize our address to protect our animals and our volunteers. Adoptions are scheduled by appointment only with approved adopters. Continue reading for instructions to apply.
Our mission is to rescue and re-home primarily small-breed dogs. Most of our animals come from kill-shelters and in and around Northwest Louisiana. We also take in many retiring breeder dogs. We provide vetting, socialization, and via over 50 EXPERIENCED volunteers, we provide healing of mind, body and soul. Our goal is to find each animal the “right” home, not just “a” home. We rescue and rehome approximately 350 animals each year! Adopters are required to have an excellent pet ownership history and veterinary reference.

About
Our approach to rescue is at its core fundamentally different than conventional methods. Bluetails is a non-profit, volunteer animal rescue organization, but unlike other groups we receive the majority of our funding through providing Pet Care Services throughout the Greater New Orleans area. However, like other rescue organizations, we do graciously accept donations.
Bring the best of both worlds together. Many pets today are adopted from shelters and rescue organizations. What better way to complete the circle and have your pet pampered and cared for by us, which gives a second chance to another needy animal. By providing Pet Care Services, that we enjoy doing, we in turn fund a a mission we are passionate about… Rescue.
We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – animals in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, pets given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.
We place dogs and cats in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a pet into their homes and lives.
Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes.
Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the animal beyond the adoption process.
Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

About
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to rescue, protect, and place abandoned or unwanted pets and provide funds for neutering, spaying, and other veterinary care.
We provide a safe, no-kill alternative to Animal Control. Our space is limited, however, and if pets are not being adopted fast enough we won’t have room to take on more.
Pet Savers wants to save as many animals as possible. We are a limited intake shelter, so due to space and City zoning we are unable to accept every animal. We are almost always at capacity. 75 DOGS…25 CATS…that’s IT!

About
Education and the safety of our residents and animals are our first priorities. Maintaining the health and welfare of people and animals is important to us.
We envision the day when all residents, their property and their neighborhoods will be safe from the dangers and nuisances of irresponsible pet ownership. We envision the day when animals will not suffer because of human abuse, neglect or ignorance.
Calcasieu Parish Animal Services and Adoption Center is more than an adoption center. Take a look around the website for information on breed rescue, the parish’s spay/neuter voucher program, animal licensing, and other laws pertaining to animals.

About
Cajun Tails Rescue is a foster based rescue with fosters in Mandeville, Hammond, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and the surrounding areas. We rely on foster homes to help take dogs in and get them rehabilitated, vetted, happy, and to their forever families.
Our ultimate mission is to help save dogs in and around the state of Louisiana. We save dogs from high kill shelters and some owner surrenders. Our goal includes making sure our dogs are properly cared for and have the best future possible. This includes getting the pups in our care proper vetting including heart worm treatment, emergency medical care, proper vaccines, and so much more. It also includes spay/neuter to help prevent any litters or addition to overpopulation- in both our adopted pups and some community outreach to help spay/neuter for some who can’t afford it. We also microchip all of our pups to make sure none of our adopted pups ever end up contributing to shelter overpopulation or being euthanized. We are currently foster based, so we can only take in dogs that we have fosters for. Understandably, most fosters are only comfortable with certain ages/breeds which restricts what we can take into our rescue. As our audience grows and we gain more fosters, we hope to expand and be able to take even more pups in.

About
The Louisiana SPCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promote, protect and advance the well-being of Louisiana’s companion animals. As the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state, we impact more than 73,000 homeless and companion animals each year. For more than 130 years we have been committed to service the needs of the people and animals in the Greater New Orleans community and across the region as a 4-star Charity Navigator rated nonprofit ranking in the top 1% nationally.
At the Louisiana SPCA we use our core values to guide our decision making process and to make the best choices for our team, animals and communities we serve.
Responsibility. The community is collectively responsible for the well-being of its animals.
Companionship. The human-animal bond adds to the quality-of-life in a community.
Humane Ethic. In prioritizing the humane and compassionate treatment of companion animals, our role is to guide the community towards these. All animals deserve the Five Freedoms.
Professional Responsibility. Euthanasia is not a failure of our organization or a reflection of the caring or compassion of the individuals who have to make that determination. Sometimes euthanasia is an unavoidable reality.
Investment in our team & volunteers. We value our team and volunteers and challenge them to grow and progress within our organization. We believe in continuous improvement and learning as individuals and as an organization.
Transparency & Integrity. Financial accountability is a top priority so we can continue to be good stewards of the community’s and individual contributions. We are committed to communicating truthfully about our operations and decisions.
Collaboration. Through collaboration, cooperation, and communication we can accomplish more.

Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.

To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting No Kill Advocacy Center.
What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.
Veterinary Care: Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.
Foster: Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.
Volunteer: Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.
Low-Cost Pet Health: Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
